It was an effort to rediscover Indian classical music. It was time to go back to the roots.

The premier management school of the nation, BIM Trichy organized ‘Arohan’ with a vision to promote Indian classical music among the youths.

The Kolkata chapter of Arohan was held on January 17th at Vidya Mandir auditorium. The program was categorically divided into three segments, each having some basic traits. The program was inaugurated by Sanchalika Bhattacharyya and Satabdi Das. The first segment saw Soumyajit Ghosh demonstrating the roots of various ragas, namely Iman Kalyan, Behag, Bhairabi. Ghosh demonstrated the roots of these ancient ragas later in the form of AV on Bhimsen Joshi.

Later, 5 contestants from various institutions took part in a competition to prove their talent on Indian classical Music. Swarnali Baruah of Multipurpose School clinched the victors ward.

According to Abhishek Kumar, one of the organizers, the event had the motto to create awareness about the roots of Indian classical music among the youths. The event was a unique one for its great concept. We hope to see more such initiatives to spread Indian classical music among the youths.
